Art Spot will continue as a free demo and mini workshop moniker for Santa Fe. Saturday demos and eventually mini workshops will fall into the Art Spot area in the front of the Santa Fe Store. Instructors that might be planning independent workshops may wish to schedule a free store demo to introduce themselves to potential students. Saturday, May 12, 1:30-3:30pm; A Red Book of One’s Own, with Nina Ross. Carl Jung stated that everyone should have their own Red Book. In celebration of the publication of Jung’s Red Book, this demo will give people the opportunity to do what Jung did- to follow their dreams and imaginations ,making a visual statement of their discoveries.  Along with reading from the Red Book and teaching some about dreams and Depth Psychology, the instructor, a seasoned therapist and artist, will lead you through an active imagination exercise. You will then record your experience and make a visual representation using mixed media. Topics and questions will be addressed in a discussion format.

 

Saturday, May 19, 1:30-3:30pm; Watercolor Techniques, with Matthew Troy Mullins. Join artist, Matthew Troy Mullins for a  demonstration of watercolor techniques and his own unique painting style. Matt will be showing how colors behave on different textured papers and how brushstrokes can make a painting.  He will also touch on how to use a wash effectively and brushes that make handling a wash on a large sheet of paper, easy.  Come along and bring your questions to Artisan on this informative afternoon.
